2016 Fashion Trends – Pantone Colors, Androgyny, Romanticism, 70’s

By  |

Pantone released a statement saying the color of the year 2016 is Rose Quartz and Serenity- which is related to the gender duality, a trend that is going on right now. The baby blue (serenity) stands for the boy and the pink (rose quartz) for the girl.

Along with those lines of pantone colors, which blurs the line between femininity and masculinity, androgyny is a major trend of 2016. Celebrities like Caitlyn Jenner and Ruby Rose have really highlighted, along with their personal philosophy, the definition of what it is to be a man and what it is to be a woman. The philosophical and social expectation of what it means to be a man versus a woman has shifted a lot in the current generation, and the line has blurred. As a result, the visual representation of our daily outfits has also blurred. There is no such thing as ‘Oh, that outfit is for a man!’ Or that outfit is for a woman. (source)
